We were at the entrance to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary when I spotted a rather unusual traffic officer.
Perched beside a 30 km/h speed limit sign was this beautiful little blue bird, apparently keeping an eye on the passing traffic.
An African glossy starling, with the most wonderful iridescent blue plumage.
I couldn’t resist taking a photograph.
He looked perfectly suited to the job. A commanding view of the road, a clearly displayed speed limit, and absolutely no intention of moving.
I did find myself wondering what would happen if somebody exceeded the limit.
Would he give chase?
And with feathers already that brilliant shade of blue, what colour would he turn when he switched on his flashing lights?
Thirty means thirty, mate. No excuses.
