I think we were on our way to the falls when I spotted this chap.
To be honest, I can’t remember a great deal about the actual encounter. But looking at the photograph now, it still makes me smile.
Here’s this enormous buffalo staring straight at me, with an egret perched on his back as though it’s the most natural place in the world to be. And a few more hanging around in the grass for good measure.
The bird seems perfectly happy. And the buffalo doesn’t look particularly bothered about his passenger either.
In fact, I can almost hear him saying:
“Yes, I’ve got an egret on my back. So what? I’m happy enough with it. Why aren’t you?”
Fair point, mate!
Not every photograph comes with an extraordinary story. Sometimes something simply catches my eye, makes me smile, and I press the shutter.
And sometimes that’s quite enough.
